Posh Women welcome Sheffield FC Women to Abbey Lawn.
Peterborough United Women welcome Sheffield FC Women to Abbey Lawn on Sunday afternoon (2pm) as they look to make it four consecutive victories in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands.
Dan Lawlor’s picked up their first three points on the road last weekend after a 3-1 win over Leek Town Ladies at The F. Ball Community Stadium and are currently sat second in the table after four games.
Sheffield FC Women have collected two points in their opening four games, following a 3-3 draw with Notts County Women and a 1-1 draw with Loughborough Lighting.
Team News
Dan Lawlor confirmed in his pre-match interview that he will have a full squad at his disposal. Forward Zaiga Làcìte is also set to return to the matchday squad on Sunday after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, but is expected to have limited minutes as she slowly looks to regain her match fitness.
Forward Katie Middleton has been in prolific form since joining the club, netting four goals and registering three assists in the opening four games in the league, and will look to add to her tally this weekend.
From The Gaffer
“We are doing some excellent work on the pitch. A massive credit to everyone at the moment because they are going out and showing what we are working on the training pitch and it’s coming out in the games. However, we can’t get carried away as it’s only five games into the season, but we need to stay humble and take every game as it comes. They are a really rugged team and the manager will set up his team well against us, so we will need to be at it from the very start if we want to get a result,” Dan Lawlor said.

One To Watch
Forward Amy Nelson joined Sheffield FC Women two seasons ago, making 14 appearances last season. The forward is the club’s current top goalscorer, netting two goals in four games, including the 3-3 draw with Notts County Women and in the FA Women’s National League Cup against Stockport County.
Last Time Out
The two sides met at Abbey Lawn back in April where Sheffield FC Women ran out 5-0 winners, with a hat-trick from Moriah McIntosh and Molly Waite. In the reverse fixture, at The Home of Football Stadium, it finished as a 1-1 draw after Tara Kirk’s early goal was cancelled out by Matilda Hallas-Potts.
A Minute's Silence
A minute's silence will take place ahead of kick-off as the women's football community come together to pay tribute to Maddy Cusack who tragically passed away earlier this week. Our thoughts and prayers are with Maddy's family and friends and everyone at Sheffield United.
