Posh Women back in FA Women’s National League action on Sunday afternoon.
Peterborough United Women return to FA Women’s National League action on Sunday afternoon (2pm) as they welcome Solihull Moors Women to the Abbey Lawn.
Dan Lawlor’s side progressed to the First Round Proper of the Women’s FA Cup last weekend following a comfortable 10-2 victory over Cambridge City Women and will be looking to make back-to-back victories in the league.
The Moors are currently sat fourth in the table, two points behind Posh, and are unbeaten since their opening game of the season, winning their previous four games, including a 3-2 victory over Lincoln City Women.
Team News
Dan Lawlor confirmed that forward Tara Kirk will be back available for this weekend’s clash against The Moors after missing last Sunday’s victory over Cambridge City Women due to family commitments.
Midfielder Renai Bennett netted her second goal in two games for the club, while Rosie Axten scored her first hat-trick for the club and both will be pushing for a start on Sunday afternoon.
From The Gaffer
“When you have played away for a couple of weeks, it’s always nice to be back home. It’s tough, Solihull are a very good side and well-organised outfit, which a lot of it comes from their manager. It’s going to be a challenging afternoon and they have players who can hurt us, so we need to be very good on Sunday to make sure we can get a result. I thought the performance last weekend was really good, the intensity they played with and the style of football was brilliant, and we have to build on that,” Lawlor said.

One To Watch
Forward Tiana Russell-Cartwright is the one to watch for this weekend’s game against The Moors. Russell-Cartwright has netted five goals in seven so far this game, scoring in their previous three FA Women’s National League fixture, and is only two goals away from matching her tally from last season.
Last Time Out
Posh ran out 3-0 winners when the two sides met at the Abbey Lawn last season in the FA Women’s National League. Keir Perkins broke the deadlock on 25 minutes with a wonderful strike from distance before Niamh Connor’s header doubled Posh’s lead just ahead of the break. Rachel Lawrence rounded off the scoring in the second half, which made it six victories for Lawlor’s side at the time.
