Posh Women begin FAWNL Cup campaign on Sunday afternoon.
Peterborough United Women welcome Stockport County Ladies to their new home at the Abbey Lawn on Sunday afternoon (2pm) in the determining round of the FA Women’s National League Cup.
Dan Lawlor’s side suffered a 4-0 defeat to Stourbridge FC Women last weekend and will be keen to get back to winning ways on Sunday afternoon.
Stockport County Ladies currently sit in 10th place in the Division One North table, winning only four points from a possible 15, but after winning their first game of the season last weekend, they will certainly be looking to continue with their winning momentum.
Team News
Posh remain without midfielders Beatriz Borque and Stacey McConville for this weekend’s fixture. However, Eden Bailey returned to full contact training on Wednesday after picking up an injury back in April and could be involved in Sunday’s squad at the Abbey Lawn.
Zaiga Lacite continues her return to full fitness after a few weeks on the sidelines and could be in contention to start, but Lawlor confirmed that there will not be much rotation in the squad.
From the Gaffer
“We’re going to try to bounce back and try to put what went wrong last week, right this week. It’s nice to have a little bit of a break from the league and try to give some players who need minutes the opportunity to do that.
“I think it’s important to see how the squad react to a loss. We lost the first game of the season and then went and won three in a row – we turned it around. We lost on Sunday, so how do we react to that.”
“We will definitely have a bigger squad this weekend, and a strong side ready to go and play. You don’t want to go into any game on the back of a defeat, really you want to try and keep as much momentum going as possible. We’ve had a bad one, and we need to get back to it.”
Ticket News
Tickets are priced at £4 for adults, £3 for seniors, £2 for under 18s and free for under 12s and supporters will be able to pay on the gate.
