Posh Women face Stourbridge Women on Sunday afternoon (2pm).
Peterborough United Women welcome Stourbridge Women to the Abbey Lawn on Sunday afternoon (2pm) in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands in their final home game of the season.
Dan Lawlor’s side will be looking to return to winnings ways in the league after a heavy 5-0 defeat to Sheffield FC Women in their previous game, leaving them six points behind second-place Doncaster Rovers Belles.
The Glassgirls secured the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands title last weekend after a 2-0 victory over Northampton Town Women, achieving back-to-back promotions. The two sides have already met on three occasions this season in the league, FAWNL Plate and the FA Cup First Round, where Keir Perkins scored in the 120th minute to secure a 2-1 victory over Stourbridge Women.
Team News
Posh remain without Eden Bailey, Beatriz Borque, Jess Driscoll and Zaiga Lacite who are all unavailable due to injury. Jess Evans will also miss the game on Sunday after picking a small injury in the defeat to Sheffield FC Women.
Rachel Lawrence is set to return to the squad after missing last weekend’s game, while Lawlor confirmed that a few Development Squad players could be used after their season finished last month.
From The Gaffer
“This will be the toughest league fixture we will play all season. They are the best team in the league and that’s why they have ended up winning it. To think they only came into the league this year, what they have done is incredible and deserve massive plaudits as they haven’t just won it, they have smashed it.
“So, in terms of playing them, it’s really tough and especially on the back of Sunday. We will have to pick ourselves up and try to prepare the best we can ahead of the game. Our home form has been superb all season, the people who come to support us have a voice, there’s a drum and flags, it’s all amazing and it would be perfect to sign off our time at Abbey Lawn with a victory.”
Ticket News
Tickets are priced at £4 for adults, £3 for seniors, £2 for under 18s and free for under 12s. Supporters will be able to pay on the gate.
