Peterborough United Women welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers W.F.C to Abbey Lawn on Sunday (12:30pm) in their first home friendly of their pre-season schedule.
Last weekend, Posh faced Tier 3 side Derby County Women behind-closed-doors at the Moor Farm Training Centre, where retained players, new signings, trialists and a selection of U23s players performed together for the first time.
Opponents Wolves finished fourth last season in the FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division with 44 points, only three points behind third place Nottingham Forest.
Team News
Manager Jake Poole has recently added Loughborough Lightning defender Emily Sharpe to an already impressive summer signing list which includes Niamh Reynolds from Nottingham Forest, Macey Bannerman-Lloyd from Tottenham Hotspur U21s and Hannah Dawbarn from the University of Miami.
From the Coach
Assistant Manager Georgia Clarke said: “For me and Jake, in terms of getting down to Abbey Lawn, playing at home for the first time in front of fans will be fantastic.
“Again, it’ll be another really tough test against Wolves similar to Derby, as they also play in the league above, but it’ll be good minutes for the girls-, we’ll get more minutes in all of their legs and it’ll be a chance to try and apply more of those principles that we’ve been working on.”
Ones to watch
Amber Hughes is the one to watch this weekend as the club’s top goal scorer last season, netting an impressive 22 goals during the 2023/24 campaign. Tammi George and Beth Merrick also hit double figures with 12 and 11 goals respectively.
