A look ahead to Saturday's Sky Bet League One clash with Reading at the Select Car Leasing Stadium (3pm).
Peterborough United are on the road this weekend as they make the trip to Berkshire to face play-off hopefuls Reading at the Select Car Leasing Stadium in Sky Bet League One action (3pm).
The Royals have enjoyed a fine campaign on the pitch, with Ruben Selles and now Noel Hunt overachieving against the backdrop of uncertainty off the field.
Posh go into the game following an impressive 3-0 win over in-form Charlton Athletic at the Weston Homes Stadium with Sam Hughes, Abraham Odoh and Malik Mothersille on target.
TEAM NEWS
Posh welcome back left-back Tayo Edun from suspension and skipper Hector Kyprianou from international duty for the clash with the Royals, while Swedish striker Gustav Lindgren and fellow front man Bradley Ihionvien are also fit and available for selection.
Darren Ferguson confirmed he had 22 outfield players training on Thursday so a number of first team players will miss out on the squad.
Reading welcome back Michael Stickland from suspension but they have a settled squad and are in good form, so it is unlikely they will make wholesale changes.
MANAGER QUOTE
"Reading are a good side, they have a lot of young players and I am sure it will be a good game to watch for the neutral because both sides will want to get the ball out into the wide areas. They have had a really good season against a backdrop of uncertainty off the pitch. They are very much in and around the play-offs and it will be a tough test for us, but we have to go there and remain consistent in our performance," Ferguson said.
ONE TO WATCH
Harvey Knibbs
A product of Aston Villa’s Academy, Knibbs (pictured below) joined Cambridge United at the start of the 2019-20 season and he scored a brace on his home debut at Abbey Stadium to earn his new side a 3-2 home win over Scunthorpe United.
Harvey ended his maiden campaign as top goalscorer at United, scoring a total of nine goals in 31 appearances for the League Two club.
Knibbs helped the U's achieve automatic promotion to League One the following year and he continued to impress in amber, scoring on the opening day of last season in a 1-0 home win over MK Dons.
He scored four more times in 2022-23, finding the back of the net against Wycombe, Charlton, Morecambe and promotion-winners Ipswich Town in 35 league starts for United.
Twin brother to a professional hurdler, Knibbs was out of contract at the end of the 2022-23 season and decided to embark on a new challenge as a Royal. He netted his first goal in Reading colours in August, hitting an equaliser in an eventual 2-1 defeat at Exeter City.
