Posh Women face Sheffield FC Women in the FA Women’s National League.
Peterborough United Women face a trip to the Home of Football Stadium as they face Sheffield FC Women on Sunday afternoon (2pm) in a FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands fixture.
The sides are yet to meet each other this season, but Posh currently sit ten points above Sheffield in the league table, sitting in fourth place whilst this weekend’s competitors sit in ninth.
Sheffield seem to be on a decent run of form, losing only once in their last four games, whereas Posh have had a bumpy last few weeks with two losses in their last four, but have managed to bounce back with a positive result in the following games, including last Sunday’s 3-0 victory over Leafield Athletic.
Team News
Posh will continue to be without midfielder Beatriz Borque and defender Elloise Copson for this Sunday’s fixture, as well as forwards Zaiga Lacite, Eden Bailey and Rosie Axten who all remain absent with injury.
Lawlor welcomed Emerging Talent Centre player Edyn Osker into the squad last weekend and could be an option ahead of this weekend’s trip to Sheffield.
Sheffield FC’s full-back Alex O’Neill has been a standout performer so far this season, netting two goals in the league with one of those in Thursday’s 2-2 draw against Lincoln City Women.
From The Gaffer
“It’s going to be a tough game. An away fixture at Sheffield is not an easy game at all, but hopefully, we can go there and play like we did on Sunday, and really give them a tough afternoon.
“They’re a good side and they’ve got a manager that knows the league well, but if we go there and play to last Sunday’s level, then I’m sure we can come home with the three points. It’s really tight at the top of the table this season, so we need to keep turning up in these last six games with the right mentality, the right attitude and outfight the teams around us to finish in that top four.”
