Sheffield Wednesday provide the opposition for our Under 18s’ Professional Development League clash on Saturday afternoon (2pm).
Posh Under 18s will make the trip to South Yorkshire on Saturday afternoon (2pm) with Jimmy Unwin’s side looking to respond to the Sheffield United defeat last time out.
Bolu Shofowoke was on hand to put our youngsters ahead against the league leaders, but the Blades mounted a comeback to extend their unbeaten start to the new term.
Unwin’s side will arrive in the Steel City looking to achieve a first victory since Birmingham City, which could see Posh rise into the top half of the table should that happen.
Their opposition, Sheffield Wednesday, have struggled for consistency at times this season with Steven Haslam’s side falling to a heavy defeat on Humberside last weekend – where Hull City ran out 6-1 winners.
TEAM NEWS
Posh will be without the services of Max Beech and Milan Kovaci who remain sidelined.
Apart from the two absentees, Unwin has confirmed that he has a clean bill of health ahead of Saturday.
THE OPPOSITION
Sheffield Wednesday find themselves sat at the top end of the table; the Owls have achieved 18 points from their opening 12 matches. Steven Haslam’s side recorded a near-perfect start to the new term, recording victories in three of their opening four fixtures. Their early season form continued through to September, with the South Yorkshire side only falling defeat once in eight matches – but head into Saturday on the back of consecutive defeats to Wigan Athletic and Hull City.
FROM THE MANAGER
“It’s a different preparation for the boys [2pm kick-off], and it will be a different test for us. Sheffield Wednesday are always good and have quality players – it will be a difficult one for us, but we are looking forward to it. I’m really pleased with boys who played in the Under 21s in midweek - they made a good account of themselves. Joe Davies continued his rich vein of form so I’m really pleased with that, and a nice assist for Pat [Patryk Sykut] as well so we’re all looking forward to Saturday,” Jimmy Unwin said.
