A look ahead to Sunday’s clash between Posh Women and Solihull Moors at Studley Sports Centre.
Peterborough United Women are back on the road as they travel to Studley Sports Centre this Easter Sunday (3pm) as they face Solihull Moors Women in their latest fixture in the FA Women’s National League Midlands Division.
Dan Lawlor’s side will look to return to winning ways after they were beaten 2-1 by Loughborough Lightning on Sunday afternoon in a competitive top of the table encounter. Despite Meg Lawlor converting an early penalty, they were defeated after second half strikes from Jade Arber at Abbey Lawn.
The Moors are currently sat seventh in the table having won six and drawn four of their 19 matches this season. They secured a 2-0 victory over Lincoln City Women at home on Sunday afternoon courtesy of goals from Bethany Gallagher and Tiana Russell-Cartwright.
Team News
Dan Lawlor confirmed that Sinead Fletcher and Niamh Connor won’t be in attendance this weekend, but ensured he has the rest of the squad at his disposal.
The host’s latest signing is Alex Liddiard from Sporting Khalsa Women. Liddiard started the season with Khalsa after joining them from Stoke City and was also previously at Boldmere St Michael's as a part of their 21/22 title winning team.
From The Gaffer
"We just need to keep finding a way to be the best that we can be until the end of the season and by all means I won’t be letting the season fizzle out. We will be going at every single game one hundred percent like we have all season and we’ll try and finish the best that we can because that’s how I am as a person and I won’t accept anything other than that.
“I actually really like them [Solihull], I think they’ve done a great job despite their resources being a bit limited this year and seeing players come and go. But they’re a team who have got some players who can hurt you and if you’re not at it, it’ll be a tough game” Lawlor said.
One To Watch
Forward Tiana Russell-Cartwright is the one to watch for this weekend’s game against The Moors. Russell-Cartwright has netted nine goals in nineteen games so far this season.
Last Time Out
It was late drama at Abbey Lawn as Keir Perkins struck the winner in the final five minutes to secure a 1-0 victory back in October, which made it three victories on the bounce for Lawlor’s side at the time.
