Peterborough United Women Under 23s travel to the Guardian Warehousing Arena where they take on Sporting Khalsa Women Reserves on Sunday afternoon (2pm) in the FA Women’s National League Reserves Midlands Division.
Last weekend, Posh recorded a strong 9-0 win over Barnsley Women Development. Georgie Oliver scored four goals alongside a hat-trick from Rebecca Mears with Alicia Podd and debutant Eve Cragg also getting on the scoresheet.
Sporting Khalsa are seventh in the table on 17 points and mostly recently lost 5-4 to Notts County Women Reserves.
When the two sides met back in November, Posh ran out 3-1 winners thanks to a first-half goal from Mears before Jess Abrantes and Alice Akinyemi also found the net.
Team News
Under 23s coach John Currall has confirmed that he has a full squad available to select for this weekend.
Sporting Khalsa’s top goalscorer this season is Pheena Smith who has scored nine times in 12 appearances this season.
From The Coach
Currall said: “It's going to be a tough one; there’s no easy games in this league. We beat them when we played them at home but it was a tough game. They’re going to be physical and they’re a good footballing side but we need to be on our game and if we show what we did last weekend then I’m sure we’ll have a positive result."
“We prefer to play at home, of course we do, but we have to play away as well. There’s a lot of travelling but the girls have coped really well with that and it would be nice to get the last one out of the way.”
Live Updates
Updates of the game will be available on The Posh Girls Academy X account, with post-match reaction also on the website.
