Stockport County v Posh

A look ahead to Friday night's Sky Bet League One fixture against Stockport County at Edgeley Park (7.45pm).

Peterborough United are back in Sky Bet League One action on Friday night with a trip to Edgeley Park to face Stockport County with Darren Ferguson's men looking to make it three wins from three in all competitions following a 4-3 win over Crawley Town and a 3-0 victory over local rivals Northampton Town.

The Hatters have enjoyed a fine first half to the campaign and sit in fifth spot in the League One table after 20 matches played with Dave Challinor's men winning nine of their games played so far this season.

TEAM NEWS

Posh are without the services of winger Kwame Poku with the former Colchester United man set to be out until February 2025 with a hamstring injury.

Goalkeeper Jed Steer is back in training after a knee injury, but won't be ready for the clash in Lancashire but Chris Conn-Clarke could be back in the squad. He missed Tuesday night's win over the Cobblers due to concussion but could feature providing he passes the medical tests,

Defender Rio Adebisi came through 45 minutes for the Under 21s in midweek and could travel with the squad, but Bradley Ihionvien is still sidelined. Gustav Lindgren can't feature for the first team until January.

MANAGER QUOTES

"Stockport are a good team and have enjoyed a really strong start to the season. It is a ground that will create a good atmosphere, particularly on a Friday night and we will have to deal with that, but I am looking forward to the game and how we can impose ourselves on the match" Darren Ferguson said.

ONE TO WATCH

Kyle Wootton

Striker, Kyle Wootton (pictured below) joined County in the Summer of 2022, becoming the Club’s first signing following promotion back to the Football League after a 12-year absence.

The forward signed on a free transfer from Notts County after three seasons at Meadow Lane, during which time he scored 59 goals in just 134 appearances for the Club, establishing himself as one of the best forwards in the National League. Prior to that, the forward had spent six seasons with Scunthorpe United.

Kyle made his debut for County against Barrow on the opening day of the 2022/23 season and scored his first goal for the Club a few weeks later in a 1-0 win over Colchester United.

He has quickly become a favourite at Edgeley Park, finishing our first season back in the EFL as our top scorer with 14 goals and winning the Club’s Player and Players’ Player of the Year awards despite injury cutting his campaign short in April.

Returning from that injury in October, the big man added a further 12 goals in 37 appearances during the 2023/24 season as County were crowned Champions of League Two – the first promotion of Kyle’s career.
