Posh Women are back in action on Sunday afternoon.
Posh Women travel to the War Memorial Athletic Ground on Sunday afternoon (2pm) where they face Stourbridge FC Women in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands.
After a 5-1 win over Long Eaton United in their last league game, Dan Lawlor’s are looking to make it four wins on the bounce and could go top of the league if they leave the Midlands with three points.
Stourbridge FC Women currently sit in second, one spot above Posh in the table on goal difference, after three wins in four for their opponents, with the newly-promoted side looking to build on a tremendous start to the season.
Team News
Posh will be without midfielders Eden Bailey, Beatriz Borque, and Stacey McConville for this weekend’s fixture. Defender Kayleigh Alymer will also be unavailable for the team selection.
Forward Zaiga Lacite returned to the squad in the victory over Long Eaton United, making her competitive debut for the club after missing the opening three games of the season due to injury.
Stourbridge’s summer signing Niamh Deasy is in impeccable form at the minute scoring four goals in four, and will no doubt be hungry for more and look to cause trouble to Posh’s defence.
From the Gaffer
“They’re a really good side and despite them being a newly promoted side, they’re doing very well and causing a lot of teams problems. I’m sure if we play the way that I know we can, do the right things, and certainly do more of what we have seen the last three games, we can cause them a lot of problems as well.
“I think when you beat any good side in the league who are doing really well, it’s always a bit of a statement, and that’s what it’s all about. We need to make a little bit of noise if we’re going to achieve anything this season, but first of all, we need to establish ourselves as a top side at this level.”
