The Posh Women are back on the road on Sunday afternoon.
Peterborough United Women face a long trip on the road as they travel to Butler Sports Centre to face Wem Town Ladies in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands on Sunday afternoon (2pm).
Dan Lawlor’s side are one victory away from securing their place in the FA Women’s National League next season after picking up an important point against Doncaster Rovers Belles last weekend. Wem Town Ladies fell to a 2-0 defeat to league leaders Boldmere St Michaels last time out in the league, currently sitting five points adrift from safety.
Team News
Katie Steward continue her return to the matchday squad on Sunday against Doncaster Rovers Belles, starting alongside Keir Perkins at front before being substituted on 58 minutes.
Faith Horner is set to miss this weekend’s trip to Wem Town Ladies as she continues to recover from an injury picked up in the victory over Roade LFC in the semi-final of Northants County Cup. Midfielder Stacey McConville also remains unavailable, but has continued to do light sessions during training on Wednesday evening with hopes of returning before the end of the season.
From the Gaffer
“The performance on Sunday against Doncaster Rovers Belles was much better compared to the last few weeks, we are still turning possession over quite easily, but it was a much-improved display. I couldn’t have asked much else from the players, they did dominate possession, which is expected due to their quality, but in terms of chances, we could have nicked the three points.
“They are very much in a relegation battle and know they are need in for points, so we can expect a motivated performance from then on Sunday and if we go there and don’t have the correct attitude, then we will be in trouble. It will be a tough game, especially on a muddy and bouncy pitch, but if we can take that performance from last weekend, then I’m confident we can come home with three points.”
