Posh Women face Wolves Women in the second round of the Adobe Women's FA Cup.
Peterborough United Women welcome another away game on Sunday afternoon (2pm) as they travel to New Bucks Head Stadium to face Wolverhampton Wanderers Women in the second round of the Adobe Women's FA Cup.
Dan Lawlor’s side booked their place in the quarter-final of the Northants County Cup last weekend after a comfortable 10-0 victory over Long Buckby, making it six victories on the bounce in all competitions.
The Posh Women will look to proceed to the next round of the cup following an impressive run in the competition last season, where the team bowed out to Barclay Women’s Championship side Durham Women in the third round.
Wolverhampton Wanderers compete in the FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division and are currently sitting third in the table. Wolves Women booked their place in the second round of the FA Cup after an 8-0 victory over local rivals Stourbridge.
Team News
Speaking to Posh+ ahead of Sunday’s game, Lawlor confirmed that the club’s recent signing Emily Brett is cup-tied after playing in the competition in the earlier rounds for Notts County Women. Midfielder Sophie Scargill will also be absent for the next couple of games.
U23s forward Frankie Pim has netted three goals in her two appearances for the first team and is set to be involved in the matchday squad for the trip to the New Bucks Stadium.
Wolves have recently signed former England youth international, Lexie Harrison, from local rivals Stourbridge who bolsters Dan McNamara's attacking options in midfield.
From The Gaffer
“It’s going to be a really exciting game against a tough opposition, we’ve had a tough draw and it’s a big ask, but we’re going to go there with a plan and as long as we give a good account of ourselves, I’ll be really happy.”
“We’re not going to drop off against Wolves, we’re going to go there, frustrate them and make it difficult. We’ve got to go there and be the absolute best we can be because anything short of that, we will definitely fall short.”
“As a football manager, I want to compete against the best sides and test ourselves against a team who are trying to push to go into the Championship. I want to see the challenge given to the players and watch them knuckle down, put the work in and if they can do everything we want, they’ll leave themselves a chance to be successful.”

One To Watch
Forward Amber Hughes is the one to watch ahead of this Sunday’s trip to New Bucks Head. Hughes has bagged seven goals in seven appearances so far this season.
Last Time In The FA Cup
Jess Driscoll found a late winner in this stage of the competition last season, beating Sporting Khalsa 2-1 at the Guardian Warehousing Arena. Despite the hosts leading 1-0 at half time, Perkins found the long-awaited equaliser in the last 15 minutes of play thanks to Driscoll’s overhead ball. Five minutes later, Driscoll found the all-important winner, sealing Posh’s progression to the third round for the first-ever time in the club’s history.
