Ahead of Tuesday night's pre-season friendly at Spalding United, defender George Nevett admits he is 'looking forward to meeting more of the Posh fans'.
There may have been just a small number of Peterborough United fans who witnessed it, but defender George Nevett was pleased to get his first minutes in a Posh shirt as his new side took on AFC Wimbledon at the club's training base in Spain on Friday evening.
Nevett was part of the first half side that kept a clean sheet against the Dons and he is pleased to get 45 minutes in the tank after making the move from Rochdale during the summer.
"Defenders love clean sheets, so even though it was pre-season and it was just 45 minutes, I will take it! It was great to make my first appearance and brilliant to see so many Posh fans had travelled out to watch the game in Spain.
"I am looking forward to meeting more of the Posh fans during pre-season and then of course when the season starts in August.
"I am really enjoying it at the minute. For a defender, pre-season games are about building those relationships with your fellow centre back and of course the full-back, particularly on your side of the pitch.
"The training camp in Spain was really good, I think it was certainly beneficial for us new lads to spend so much time together with the rest of the squad.
"The game against AFC Wimbledon was a good test. It was tough in the heat, but that is what pre-season is about. The intensity in training has been a test, it hasn't been easy, I have had to adapt a little bit, but I think I have done okay and it is now about improving day by day and learning as much as I can," Nevett said.
You can watch Nevett in action for Posh at the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday 3rd August when Notts County visit PE2 for back to back friendly games (1.30pm/3.30pm).
