Posh Women captain Keir Perkins made her 200th appearance for the club in last weekend’s fixture against Leafield Athletic.
The 26 year-old has been with Posh every step of the way, having been a part of the Posh Ladies squad in 2015, and is playing in her tenth season for the club.
Perkins is delighted to have achieved 200 appearances for the club and reflects on the club’s growth over this period of time: “I’m very happy with the achievement; it feels like I’ve been at the club for ages and a long time ago since I got my 100th shirt.
“When I look back to the start it’s so different to how it is now. The progression has been amazing. When we first started out, we had one team, and now we have the Under 23s as well. I could never have imagined how far we have come and how well we have done. It’s been an amazing journey and I will keep on going as long as I can.
“I’ve changed quite a lot as a player. There was a time when we first started out that I wasn’t getting selected to be in the squad so to know be captain and play regularly it shows how far I’ve developed as a player.”
The number 9 spoke about some of the highlights of her time at the club so far: “I really enjoyed playing at the Weston Homes Stadium but most of all it’s the home that we’ve created recently at Abbey Lawn. It feels special getting to play there every week in front of a home crowd that we’ve built up over the years; especially the moments after these games where we get to meet the younger fans.”
Manager Jake Poole spoke about the captain’s influence on the team: “Keir has epitomised what a Posh Women player should be for many years, and her love and passion for the club is evident every time she wears the Posh shirt. She’s a role model for young girls at the club and in the area, and thoroughly deserves all the personal and team success she has had at the club and will continue to do so.”
Fans can celebrate with Perkins and the team this weekend when they welcome Northampton Town Women back to Abbey Lawn, Bourne on Sunday afternoon (2pm).
