Posh Women drew 2-2 with Sporting Khalsa in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands campaign at the Guardian Warehousing Arena.
An early strike from Keir Perkins and a debut goal for Ella Hilliard helped secure a point on the road for Peterborough United Women after they drew 2-2 with Sporting Khalsa Women on Sunday afternoon.
Posh sought an early opportunity after a terrific run from Katie Middleton, she struck from the corner of the box, but her effort found the hands of Khalsa’s keeper, Natalie Hall.
On four minutes, captain Keir PERKINS secured her first goal since returning from injury after firing the ball into the back of the net inside the box after an excellent cross from Middleton. Soon after, Khalsa looked to equalise, but Isabelle Austin-Short shot from close range was well blocked by Neive Corry.
After a couple of opportunities for the hosts, Perkins sought a second on 20 minutes as she whipped in a lovely ball to Brett, she went for the header, but Hall made the save to deny her efforts.
On 30 minutes, Posh created another chance after Bennett played a great through-ball to Brett who advanced into the box, but her strike went just wide of the post. Minutes later, there was a chance for the hosts after a close scramble in the box. Megan Cann powered the ball towards the net but her effort hit the crossbar leaving Connor to make an excellent clearance before the break.
Shortly after a chance from Perkins, Ella HILLIARD scored her debut goal on 52 minutes. Meg Lawlor sent the ball into a crowded box and found Hilliard, who headed the ball into the back of the net.

On 75 minutes, Posh looked for a third after Poppie Brown found the ball in the box after a cross from Kirk, but her strike found the hands of Khalsa’s keeper. The hosts equalised on 81 minutes after a close call decision by the referee. It was deemed that Layla Kennerley tapped the ball just over the goal-line from a very tight scramble in the box.
After a few final attempts of victory from the Posh, Niamh Connor made a vital tackle in the box in the closing minutes of the game to deny the hosts the lead.
