Poole

Peterborough United Women Manager Jake Poole has confirmed his backroom staff for the upcoming 2024/25 FA Women’s National League campaign with Jess Stanford taking on a new player care role.

Poole has retained the services of Steve Corry as Goalkeeper Coach and Sam Palmer as the Head of Medical. Lauren Selkirk will join the backroom staff as the club’s new Head of Performance.

The club are also pleased to appoint midfielder Jess Stanford as our Player Care Officer whilst she recovers from her recent ACL injury.

Poole is looking forward to working alongside the team: “I’m delighted with the staff we’ve put together over the off-season. Georgia Clarke has had a lot of success within the education programme, with good knowledge and experience with the younger players. She brings lots of quality to the coaching team as well as professionalism and a great understanding of the club.

“Steve Corry remains a part of our coaching staff, he has a fantastic relationship working with the players and culturally adds a lot of value to the team, as well as his great work with our goalkeepers over the last season.

“Lauren and Sam add that real professional quality that the players will also take a lot of value from."

General Manager, Sam Winch said: “Jess will be taking on the role as Player Care Officer, which is fantastic for our players and staff as well as all of our young players within the academy.

“Losing Drizzy through an ACL injury in the penultimate game of the season was absolutely gut wrenching, but I feel that this role will allow her to make a positive impact and develop the role itself, whilst continuing to work on her rehab within the club- I was adamant we could not lose her infectious and courageous personality off the pitch too.

“This role is a role I feel passionately about and one that should be filled by clubs throughout the game up and down the leagues. Supporting not just our players, but our staff too, by being a voice, a mentor, a soundboard and a positive influencer will allow a more pragmatic and effective atmosphere throughout the club.

“I want to finish by continuing to thank all sponsors of our players and staff, whilst noting that any sponsors that the club receives for Drizzy will directly go to helping support her with the financial outgoings of her ACL surgery costs.

“Whilst we are pleased to announce the new staffing structure within our first team set up, we will however be losing our two assistant coaches in Harry Mclean and Adam Timson. Both of which have demonstrated commitment, professionalism and integrity last season and despite my short tenure at the club, I was able to quickly recognise their high level coaching credentials and enthusiasm for developing players. I wish them all the best and success in the near future.”
