Peterborough United has achieved Bronze in the EFL Equality Code of Practice.
We are very proud to announce that the club, working in partnership with our Foundation colleagues, have achieved the Bronze Award in the EFL Equality Code of Practice.
Our award comes after the club has spent the 23/24 season in further developing our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion across all areas of the club.
We have carried out lots of new initiatives including supporter and club surveys to better understand how we can broaden our reach to all sections of our community. We have launched two fantastic new disability and LGBTQ+ supporter groups, supported lots of new campaigns including our ’See it, Hear it, Report it’ anti-discrimination campaign, Unite for Access, Her Game Too across the season and have further plans for the 24/25 season.
Inclusion Board Champion, Dawn Gore, supported by Helen Meadows, HR Manager and Inclusion Lead said ‘We’re very proud of the work the team have done to ensure we continue to be a progressive and inclusive part of our Peterborough community, we welcome everyone and see that the club and football is a big part of our great city."
EFL Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, David McArdle, said: "Our 72 Clubs represent communities of people from a wide variety of diverse backgrounds. The EFL’s Code of Practice is the foundation on which our work on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion is built, providing Clubs with a clear framework and setting out exactly what they need to put in place to ensure the Club is reflective of the community at all levels.
“The progress being made is very encouraging and the EFL will continue to support and empower all Clubs to make a positive impact on their communities and the wider game.”
Initially launched in 2012, the EFL’s Equality Code of Practice was revamped to become a multi-level accreditation scheme at the start of the 2022/23 season, with 46 of the 72 EFL Clubs achieving at least Bronze by the end of the 2023/24 season.
