Women’s General Manager, Sam Winch said: “International Women's Day is an opportunity to highlight and recognise the contributions of women across our staff, players, fans and community 365 days of the year. Whilst it is just one day a year, we continuously commit to championing our female athletes as role models both on and off the pitch. We will continue to celebrate the achievements of women playing and working in football and applaud when equality is achieved in pay, sponsorship and visibility.”

Players and staff from Posh Women and the Girls Academy were in attendance at today's match against Wycombe Wanderers. Winch explained: “This afternoon was a chance to celebrate International Women’s Day, by supporting a range of players from throughout our Women's and Girl's pathway, as they walked around the pitch at half-time embracing the atmosphere. Posh Women and Girls continue to be pioneers in football development, making the local area a place of opportunity for women's football.”

Posh Women boast a strong pathway from the Academy. Several members of the First Team have come through the pathway including Poppie Brown and most recently Edyn Osker, Ella Bale and Jess Abrantes, with further appearances from other players too. Brown recently made her 50th appearance for the First Team despite only being 17 years-old.

Posh Women Under 23s Manager, Michael Allsebrook, said: “Overall, the success of our female pathway so far has been something that as a football club we can be extremely proud of. From where we started two years ago in moving from a reserves side to an Under 23s, it set-up gave a real purpose and a clear pathway for the players from our academy to the First Team.”

Five players have also made the step-up from the Under 16s to the Under 23s this season. Allsebrook highlighted this achievement: “The number of players who have progressed through to the First Team over the last two years is a testament to the hard work and dedication from everyone’s involved with the Women’s set-up. We have some truly talented players in our pathway and there is no doubt that some of them are destined to play in the higher Tiers.

Women’s football is continuing to grow and thrive nationally and for us to be at the forefront of this movement in our area is something that we continue to strive for. Being a part of the women’s set-up is something that I hold tremendous pride in.”

The Academy has seen more success with the Under 16s reaching the Northamptonshire County Cup final and quarter-finals of the JPL Warriors League Trophy. A selection of our academy players have also been recognised on a national scale with players attending the Future Lioness Goalkeeping Centre and Future Lioness Top Talent session.

Another member of the ETC is Millie Blair. Millie was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on her eleventh birthday and had her leg amputated above the knee in January 2025. Millie has shown unimaginable strength since her diagnosis and refuses to give up on playing the sport she loves. Millie now dreams of playing for England Women’s Amputee Football Team and competing in the Paralympics. To achieve this, Millie needs a high-performance prosthetic leg for which the family have set up a Go-Fund me page. If you would like to donate please click here.
