The three supporters’ groups, the football club and Smyths Toys have come together to donate toys to the Amazon Children’s Ward.
Ahead of Christmas, Peter Burrow made a special visit to Peterborough City Hospital to drop off a selection of presents for youngsters who were occupying the Amazon Children’s Ward after the football club and the three supporters’ groups joined forces to spread some festive cheer.
Foreverposh, PISA and The Posh Supporters Trust, alongside the football club, put in funds to purchase the presents and Goalkeeping Coach and Posh Legend Mark Tyler was on hand to fill the trolleys with gifts at Smyths Toys, with the branch of the superstore also making a generous contribution to the cause.
Press Officer Phil Adlam said: “Firstly, a huge thank you to foreverposh, PISA and The Posh Supporters Trust for coming together and supporting the football club on our annual visit to the Hospital over the Christmas period. At this time of year, it is great that everyone can join forces in a positive way, and we are grateful that all three groups were so keen to help support the club with this particular project.
“I would also like to thank Storm Woodley and all his staff at Smyths Toys for once again helping us selecting the toys and for adding a very appreciated donation. Pre-Covid, the trip to the Children’s Ward was always a rewarding experience, putting smiles on faces by spreading a bit of festive cheer with the players was something that was one of the first things on the calendar to confirm.
“The world is a little different these days. However, our support for the Amazon Children’s Ward, for both the children and the wonderful staff that work there, will never waver. We just have to adapt. After Mark Tyler joined us to fill the trolleys with presents, it was over to Peter Burrow to help deliver them just outside of the ward. We hope that the children enjoy the presents and we hope to hear that they are getting better.”
