November was another busy month for Peterborough United Foundation with plenty of activity both on and off the football pitch.
On Monday 4th November, Peterborough United Foundation held a Remembrance event at the Weston Homes Stadium, celebrating the lives and work of service people past and present, who have dedicated their lives for us.
The following week, Peterborough United Foundation hosted a Show Racism the Red Card event for 60 local school pupils at the Weston Homes Stadium. The day began with two workshops, delivered by Jack and Paul from Show Racism the Red Card and pupils from New Road in Whittlesey, and Stanground St. Johns Primary Schools also enjoyed a stadium tour of the Weston Homes Stadium, whilst also meeting club mascot, Peter Burrow.
In the afternoon, we were fortunate to be joined by four Peterborough United Academy players (Milan Kovaci, Andre Changunda, Max Beech and Ben Westcott) and two first team players (Ryan De Havilland and Bradley Ihionvien) – for a Q&A discussion, where the players spoke about incidents of discrimination they’ve seen in football if they’d been unfortunate enough to do so, how they’d react if they were discriminated against and about the pressures of life growing up as a footballer in the public eye.
During the EFL Week of Action, Peterborough United pair Sam Curtis and Ricky-Jade Jones spent time at the Nene Valley Community Centre on Sugar Way, supporting the work of the Posh Foundation.
The duo were present at the PAN Disability and Early Years sessions, spending time with participants, posing for pictures and signing autographs. On Friday (22nd November), we took two teams to West Ham United’s London Stadium to take part in the Street Soccer Foundation’s Champions Trophy.
Our two teams performed well, winning all of their group games and advancing to the semi-finals. They met each other in the semi’s, meaning one of our teams were guaranteed to play on the main pitch at the London Stadium. The team who won the semi then faced Sheffield Wednesday at the London Stadium, winning 6-0 and securing the Champions Trophy.
In December, we’ve got a range of events and projects coming up before Christmas including our new exercise class to help individuals improve circulation, increase mobility and enhance overall vascular health. These sessions will take place every Monday, 1pm-2pm at Whittlesey Indoor Bowls Club.
On Monday 16 December, we're hosting a FREE Christmas Party featuring Alexa Vox, Luci & Pippa, hosted by Teddi, The Drag Queen. This free event is at the Weston Homes Stadium and the bar will be open!
Sign up is required prior to the event HERE.
On Saturday 21st December, Peterborough United Foundation are hosting trials for our scholarship programme. The scholarship is for footballers currently in Year 11, wishing to join us, and Nene Park Academy, from September 2025.
In the new year, we have two new weekly yoga sessions starting, so keep an eye on Peterborough United Foundation social media for more information.
From all of us at Peterborough United Foundation, we’d like to wish all Posh fans a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
