Stamford AFC v Posh

A youthful Peterborough United side recorded a comfortable victory against Southern Football League outfit Stamford AFC at the Zeeco Stadium.

Jacob Wakeling (x2) and Chris Conn-Clarke effort gave the youthful Posh side a commanding lead, with additional first-half strikes from David Ajiboye and Jensen Sumnall securing Darren Ferguson’s side the victory in Lincolnshire.

Posh started the evening brightly in the opening exchanges, before the pressure soon told as they found themselves in front courtesy of Jacob WAKELING, who continued his pre-season spree with a straightforward finish from close range.

New arrival Chris Conn-Clarke linked up with WAKELING on 22 minutes, who made no mistake as he buried the ball into the bottom corner to secure a quick-fire brace.

The first-half rout was to continue on the half-hour mark; CONN-CLARKE produced a superb strike from distance which looped over the Stamford shot-stopper, hitting the underside of the crossbar to provide Posh with a third.

Posh came close shortly after, Oli Rose found Ricky Jade-Jones with a lofted ball over the hosts’ defence, his strike was saved low by the Stamford keeper.

Posh added a fourth goal with a superb individual strike from David AJIBOYE who danced around a number of challenges before firing past Lakin.

Jensen SUMNALL found the net on the verge of half-time, the centre-back was left free inside the hosts’ box which allowed the defender time to find the back of the net with a clever finish on his first-team debut.

The second half was devoid from many clear-cut opportunities; Conn-Clarke’s effort cleared off the line was the last notable opportunity for the Posh.
