Tayo Edun, Malik Mothersille and Chris Conn-Clarke were on target as Posh recorded a 3-1 victory over Shrewsbury Town at the Weston Homes Stadium.
The challenge ahead of the Sky Bet League One meeting with Shrewsbury Town was to make a good week a great week and Darren Ferguson's men did just that as goals from Tayo Edun, Malik Mothersille and Chris Conn-Clarke secured a 3-1 victory over Shrewsbury Town.
It was a mad opening to the game with Shrewsbury skipper John Marquis dismissed after just seven seconds for an elbow on Sam Hughes. Discussions after the game were around the possibility that an EFL record had been broken for the fastest red card.
Posh didn't take long to break down the 10-men as a corner from EDUN found the back of the net after a mistake from goalkeeper Jamal Blackman.
The visitors continued to push players forward and they found an equaliser as Oscar Wallin was penalised for a trip in the box and Mal BENNING slotted the penalty past Jed Steer.
Shrewsbury felt they should have had a spot-kick on 29 minutes when Lloyd took a tumble inside the box under a challenge from Wallin but the referee gave a corner.
Steer did well to keep out a low drive from Perry before Posh felt they should have had a penalty as Brad Ihionvien was felled by Pierre.
On 35 minutes, Posh got their noses in front, Odoh doing brilliantly down the left to nutmeg the defender and find MOTHERSILLE who made no mistake.
Ihionvien fired across the box moments after the re-start with James Dornelly just failing to get a touch at the far post.
Odoh saw an effort cleared off the line by Morgan Feeney with Mothersille firing the rebound wide of the target. Steer produced a superb save to tip over a volley from substitute Jordan Shipley.
Mothersille fired wide on 85 minutes and a minute later Ricky-Jade Jones was denied by Blackman after a neat through-ball.
A total of 10 minutes was added on by the fourth official with Oliver heading a corner kick wide of the target. Eight minutes into stoppage time, Posh made the game safe as substitute Chris CONN-CLARKE scored his first Posh goal, firing home from close-range after more good work from Odoh.
