Darren Ferguson's men strolled to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Port Vale at the Weston Homes Stadium.
Peterborough United eased to a 3-0 victory over Port Vale in Sky Bet League One action on Wednesday night as goals from Joel Randall, Harrison Burrows and own goal from Alex Iaconitti secured three vital points to strengthen the club's position in the table.
Posh dominated from the start with Ephron Mason-Clark twisting and turning to create space in the box, only to drag his shot wide of the near post.
Ricky-Jade Jones fired wide on nine minutes and Kwame Poku was not far off the bottom corner with a well executed volley on 11 minutes.
On 15 minutes, Mason-Clark fed Joel Randall in a promising position, but he couldn't get any whip on his effort. Poku had another good chance to find the back of the net on 38 minutes after cutting inside onto his favoured left-foot, but he sliced his shot well wide of the target.
Hector Kyprianou saw a header clawed around the post on 43 minutes before the deadlock was broken in first half stoppage time, as RANDALL saw a long-range effort take a nick off as defender and nestle in the back of the net.
On 54 minutes, Posh won a spot-kick as Knight was bundled over in the box by Loft and skipper Harrison BURROWS stepped up and coolly sent Ripley the wrong way from the spot.
Archie Collins fired over moments later while Mason-Clark saw a deflected drive pushed to safety by the goalkeeper. Ricky-Jade Jones had the ball in the back of the net on 70 minutes, but it was ruled out for offside.
Ripley produced a stunning stop to keep out Poku on 81 minutes before Posh added a third goal as a delightful cross from Burrows was headed past his own goalkeeper by IACONITTI.
Steer produced his only save of the evening on 90 minutes as he tipped over fierce effort from Garrity.
