Posh U18s face Wellingborough Whitworths U18 Black on Monday evening.
Peterborough United U18s begin their David Joyce Cup campaign on Monday evening (7:45pm) as they face Wellingborough Whitworth U18 Black at The Victoria Mill Ground in the first round of the competition.
Posh U18s claimed their first victory of the season in the Under-18 Professional Development League after a 1-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday U18 thanks to Joel Odei-Larbi's goal on the stroke of half-time.
Simon Davies, who will continue to step in alongside Ryan Semple while U18s boss Jamal Campbell-Ryce remains with England U19 in Denmark, will field quite a youthful side with a handful of under 16s set to be involved, including Levi Baker, who starred in the Sheffield Wednesday victory on Friday after coming on as a substitute at half-time.
Davies said: “We will welcome quite a few under 16s into the squad for the game against Wellingborough Whitworths as it will be a great opportunity to play up a level and give them a run-out. We are looking to build on Friday’s victory and, as with any competition, we want to go on a run and look to go as far as possible.”
Wellingborough Whitworths U18 Black compete in the Northants Senior Youth League and currently sit in third place after recording a 4-0 victory over Stamford Young Daniels in their previous fixture.
Updates of the match will be provided on the club’s official Twitter account, with a match report to follow after the game.
