Posh U18s to welcome The Cherries to the idverde Training Ground.
Peterborough United U18s welcome AFC Bournemouth U18s to the idverde Training Ground on Saturday morning (11am) in their first home game of the Under-18 Professional Development League campaign.
The under 18s suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Swansea City in their opening game of the season, with Tyler Winters netting the goal for Posh in injury time. The Cherries claimed three points in their first game at Professional Development League level, beating Wigan Athletic 5-0 last weekend.
U18s Professional Development Assistant Coach, Hugh Alban Jones, is hoping for a strong performance but expects a tough test against The Cherries. He said: “It’s never nice losing the first game of the season, but you quickly have another game around the corner to put that behind you and put in a good performance this weekend. We are hoping for a strong performance from the players and a good chance to get a good result.”
“We have watched a bit of Bournemouth and we know they are very direct, have plenty of creative forward players and play attacking football. So, it’s not only about us containing them, but also about us showing our own style of play and our own attacking football. As long as we can deal with their threat and match their energy, we will go and impose ourselves well on the game.”
With the under 21s in action against Bristol City U21s on Friday evening in the Premier League Cup, a small of under 18s players are expected to be involved in the trip and will miss the fixture against The Cherries at the weekend.
