Posh U18s face The Citizens in the Premier League Cup on Saturday morning.
Peterborough United U18s return to Premier League Cup action on Saturday afternoon (1pm) as they face Manchester City U18s in the second game of the group phase at City Football Academy.
The under 18s kicked off their group phase with a 3-1 victory over West Bromwich Albion last month at the idverde Training Ground, with goals from Tyler Winters, Torin Ntege and Joe Davies. The Citizens also picked up three points in their opening game after a 2-1 victory over Everton.
The Citizens compete in the Under-18 Premier League and are currently third in the table, having yet to lose a game so far in this campaign. U18s Professional Development Phase Coach, Hugh Alban Jones, admits it will be a great experience for the players to challenge themselves against a category one academy side.
“These are the games everyone wants to be involved in. I know the players are looking forward to it, we will go there and try to put our best foot forward and enjoy the occasion, but not let it get to us. It will be the experience that they will hopefully remember when they look back at their time at the club, heading down to the best academy probably in the country,” Jones said.
“We will go into the game with nothing to lose. Another win might be enough for us to go through, so we will travel to Manchester and look to do that this weekend. While this is a tough group, we are confident in our abilities and we managed to show that against West Brom in our last fixture.”
Jones confirmed a similar squad that secured victory over The Tykes in the Professional Development League will travel to Manchester on Saturday afternoon, with Joel Odei-Larbi, Andre Changunda and Fabian Claxton still out injured.
