Posh U18s continue pre-season programme with a test against The Shrimpers.
Peterborough United U18s Professional Development Assistant Coach Hugh Alban Jones is looking to build on some positive performances from pre-season so far as they face Southend United U18s on Saturday morning.
The under 18s have been in excellent goalscoring form in pre-season so far, scoring 14 goals in four games with forward Tyler Winters netting four of those. They overcame Sunderland U18s in the previous game, who compete in the Premier League U18 division as they ran out 5-2 winners.
Posh also secured a win over FA Youth Cup winners West Ham United U18s and Alban Jones is keen to build on the recent performances in pre-season so far. He said: “We are looking to build on some good performances in the last few games as we were very good at the weekend against Sunderland. It’s going to be a younger squad, with a mixture of under 18s and under 16s as a few of our usual players will be going away with the under 21s game against Wingate & Finchley.
“We could see a number of the under 16s getting around 90 minutes, so that will be a real good exposure to the under 18s for them, especially the physicality and the speed of the game, and gives them the chance to prove themselves. But, we will be hoping for another positive performance and get a lot of minutes into the legs of the players that need them.”
