Posh U18s in County Cup Final action on Wednesday evening.
Peterborough United U18s face Daventry Town U18s in the final of the U18 David Joyce Cup on Wednesday evening (7:45pm) at The Victoria Mill Ground, the home of Wellingborough Whitworth.
Jamal Campbell-Ryce’s progressed to the final of the competition, overcoming Wellingborough Whitworth Black U18s in the First Round before securing a 1-0 victory over Kettering Town U18s in the Quarter-Final. Posh booked their place in the final stage of the David Joyce Cup following a 3-0 win over Northampton O.N. Chenecks U18s in February.
Daventry Town U18s began their journey at the Quarter-Final stage and progressed after beating Bugbrooke St Michael on penalties. They secured their spot in the final with a 3-0 victory over Corby Town.
The David Joyce Cup final is the first of two cup finals for the under 18s, with Posh also in the Under-18 Professional Development League Cup final next month. Campbell-Ryce says the squad is looking forward to the chance of silverware, but stated it will be a tough evening against the opposition.
Speaking on the game, Campbell-Ryce said: “We are all very excited to be involved in the cup final. Like I keep saying, the players have had a strong second half of the season and deserved it. Hopefully, they can go give another good account of themselves tomorrow. It will also be a great experience for the players and the challenges faced in a high-pressure game, but hopefully, they can come through it and showcase themselves in the right way.
“These games are always tough. We don’t know much about them, but all we can do going into the game is worry about ourselves, play our style of play and outwork the opposition. I fear these games more than any, they are underdogs and we have to into the final with the mindset that they are like any team.”
Tickets are priced at £5 for adults and £3 for concessions with cash and card accepted and all tickets on the gate.
