Posh U18s suffer defeat to The Lions in the Professional Development League.
Peterborough United U18s suffered a 4-1 defeat to Millwall U18s on Saturday afternoon in the Under-18 Professional Development League, with Tyler Winters grabbing the goal for Posh.
The hosts opened the scoring inside the opening 60 seconds as Josh Marcon lost possession, the ball was lifted into the box and their forward fired past Jake West on the half-volley.
It was only a one-goal deficit heading into the break for the under 18s, but the Lions doubled their lead just after the hour mark as Tom Unwin’s pass was picked up by their forward, he advanced into the box before firing the ball across West and into the bottom corner.
Two minutes later, and the hosts added a third goal of the afternoon as they broke quickly after winning the ball back in midfield, a diagonal ball from their defender found their forward in acres of space inside the right area of the box and he smashed the ball into the back of the net.
The Lions extended their advantage on 70 minutes before Winters pulled a goal back for Posh with four minutes left to play, netting his fourth goal in four games. Joe Davies’ cross found Dennis Kelmendi inside the box, his initial effort was saved by the keeper but Winters was there to tap home from close-range.
Posh XI: West, Gilbert, Mills, Unwin, Rose, Toynton, Holley, Marcon, Winters, Kelmendi, Changunda.
Subs: Sakalas, Fox, Beech, Freeman, Davies.
The under 18s will turn their attention to the U18 Premier League Cup this weekend as they welcome West Bromwich Albion to the idverde Training Ground in their first fixture of the group stage.
