Posh U18s fall to defeat to The Robins in the Professional Development League.
Peterborough United U18s suffered a 2-0 defeat to Bristol City U18s in the Under-18 Professional Development on Saturday morning at the Robins High Performance Centre.
The Robins took the lead on 16 minutes as they broke quickly from the back, a low cross was met by their forward at the back-post and he pulled it back to the six-yard box, where it was fired home from close-range.
The hosts doubled their lead in the second as Luke Gilbert was penalised for a foul and, from the resulting free-kick, it was poked home past Jake West from close-range to seal the victory for The Robins.
Lead Youth Development Phase Coach, Elio Salerno, who took charge of the under 18s game, reflected on the defeat to The Robins and believes the results will follow if they continue to take the positives from the performances.
Salerno said: “The players were resilient throughout the game, considering the opposition and we were put under a lot of pressure with their style of player. There were times in the game when we had to keep ourselves in the game and then times when we had to impose ourselves on the game, which I felt we did better in the second half. We managed to get control of the ball a lot more and created a few good opportunities.
“We know it’s frustrating for the players to lose games, they would like to win games and it’s difficult for them when it’s not happening. But, I told them at the weekend, if they take away the good parts of the game then the results will come. They just need a little patience and keep working hard and, hopefully, the results will soon follow."
