Posh U21s face The Blades in league action on Tuesday afternoon.
Peterborough United U21s welcome Sheffield United U21s to the idverde Training Ground on Tuesday afternoon (1:30pm) in the Professional Development League.
The under 21s recorded a comfortable 5-0 victory over Birmingham City last week, extending their unbeaten run to five games in the league and has seen them rise to seventh in the table, but still have games in hand with the teams around them.
The Blades are currently sat at the top of the table after 20 games and have a 13-point gap over second-place Wigan Athletic. The two sides last met in September at Bramall Lane and The Blades claimed the three points after goals from George Broadbent and Louie Marsh secured a 2-1 victory.
Professional Development Phase coach, Ryan Semple, is expecting a tough battle against the league leaders on Tuesday afternoon, but is looking forward to seeing how the under 21s group compete against The Blades.
“Last week's victory against Sheffield Wednesday was good and we will look to build on that performance. It will be a completely different test and involve different challenges that we will have to overcome. However, we are confident if we approach the game correctly, then we can have a strong foothold in the game.”
“We are expecting a tough game. They will try to be aggressive, be on the front foot and be very dangerous in transitions, so we have to make sure we reduce that by being consistent in possession and keeping the ball as much as possible. It will be a difficult game, but excited to see how we compete against them.”
The game gets underway at 1:30pm and updates will be available on The Posh Academy Twitter account.
