Posh U21s to face The Blues at the Weston Homes Stadium on Friday afternoon.
Peterborough United U21s return to action on Friday afternoon (2pm) as they welcome Birmingham City U21s to the Weston Homes Stadium in an Under-21 Professional Development League.
The under 21s continue to search for their first victory in the league after falling to a 4-1 defeat to Bristol City in their previous fixture, with Donay O’Brien-Brady netting his first goal for the club after joining in the summer.
Forward Reuben Marshall remains unavailable due to injury while the number of players currently out on loan also won’t be involved on Friday afternoon. Head of Academy Professional Development Phase Coach, Jamal Campbell-Ryce, admits the slightly longer break has been a good opportunity to sit down with the squad and reinstate their principles.
Campbell-Ryce said: “It has been good to have a longer break as we had the opportunity to put some good work into them. Obviously, the performances and results have been to our expectations, especially coming off the back of pre-season where we thought we were in a good place.
“So, we have gone back to basics in this time period and the longer break has given us time to reinstate our values and our principles, in and out of possession. They look aggressive and have quality and will be up for a fight, so we will need to make sure we match that and then make sure we get those basic foundations in place and start building our performance from there.”
The Blues are currently sat third in the table, failing to win in their last three games, suffering a 3-1 defeat to Wigan Athletic after going down to nine men during the game. Steve Spooner’s side were also in action on Tuesday night in the Premier League Cup, settling for a 0-0 draw with Ipswich Town.
Tickets can be brought on the day at the Weston Homes Stadium Box Office. Admission is free for season ticket holders with adult tickets available for £3 and concessions (seniors and under 18s) at £1. The Main North Stand will be open for the fixture.
The game will be streamed live on Posh+ and will be free for Posh+ subscribers or £3 for a match pass.
