Posh U21s face Liverpool U21s in their latest pre-season friendly.
Peterborough United U21s face Liverpool U21s in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Tuesday afternoon as they look to build on an impressive start to their pre-season programme.
The under 21s picked up their second victory of pre-season on Saturday afternoon after a 2-0 win over local non-league side Peterborough Sports, with Gabe Overton netting his second goal in two games as he continues his return from a long-spell on the sidelines.
Liverpool, who are a category one academy, finished second in the Premier League 2 last season and Professional Development Phase Coach, Ryan Semple, knows that this fixture will pose a completely different test compared to what they have faced in pre-season so far.
Semple said: “In the backend of last season, we spoke about pre-season and the games we wanted to have, and it was really important for numerous reasons to play local non-league sides and senior sides.
“But, it is also a good opportunity to face Liverpool, who have a top academy and fantastic players, and that will be a completely different test. However, that’s what pre-season is about, challenging players against all different types of teams and allows us to set up nicely for the start of the season."
