Posh U21s face The Railwaymen at the Mornflake Stadium on Friday afternoon.
Peterborough United U21s travel to the Mornflake Stadium on Friday afternoon (1pm) as they face Crewe Alexandra U21s in their penultimate game of the Professional Development League campaign.
Ryan Semple’s side will be looking to make it three consecutive victories in the league after securing a 5-0 victory over Charlton Athletic in their previous game on Tuesday afternoon, with defender Sam Dreyer netting two of those goals. The victory saw Posh climb up the table into seventh and a victory at the Mornflake Stadium will see them rise to fifth.
The Railwaymen have failed to win in their last five league fixtures, including a 2-0 defeat to Bristol City on Monday, and currently sat in eight and just two points behind Posh. The two side met earlier in the season as Posh ran out 3-0 winners at the idverde Training Ground, with Joe Taylor, Kellan Hickinson and David Ajiboye on the scoresheet.
Posh only have two more games remaining in the Professional Development, including a trip to Colchester United next Tuesday evening (7pm), and Semple spoke about the importance of building momentum and ending the campaign on a high heading into next season.
“We have said on a number of occasions that this last part of the season is where the group becomes a little bit more settled as all the loan players have returned and not as many first-team players. So, we had a target of trying to end the season well and letting it fade out.
“We have two more games left, obviously tomorrow against Crewe and then Tuesday at Colchester United, and we want to end the season positively, try to finish as high as possible in the table, which is great for the players heading into next season.”
