Posh U21s face The Tigers on Tuesday evening in the Professional Development League.
Peterborough United U21s are back in Professional Development League action on Tuesday evening (7pm) as they face Hull City U21s at Dransfield Stadium, the home of North Ferriby Football Club.
The under 21s suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to league leaders Sheffield United U21s in their previous outing after previously picking up four points in two games, while The Tigers are currently sat seventh in the table, having won two games in their last five games, beating Barnsley and Crewe.
The two sides met on two occasions last season, with The Tigers running out winners twice, and U21s Lead Professional Development Phase Coach Ryan Semple is expecting another tough game on Tuesday evening.
Semple said: “They have a clear way of playing and like to control the game in terms of the possession they have. It’s always a tough test whenever we face Hull City and a side that can have quite a lot of experience in their under 21s teams, but we have played quite a lot last season and have an idea of what to expect from them.”
U21s midfielder Donay O’Brien-Brady was handed his senior debut in last week’s EFL Trophy victory over Tottenham Hotspur U21s while defender James Dornelly came off the bench, and Semple was pleased to see them both handed opportunities within the first team.
“Donay [O’Brien-Brady] and James [Dornelly] are two players that are quite opposite in their journey at the club. James has been at the club since he was seven or eight years old, while Donay came in at the start of the season after being on trial last season, both players that we feel have plenty of potential and have done well at times this season. It’s great for them and any other player that we see handed opportunities with the first team.”
Forward David Kawa remains unavailable due to a long-term injury. Updates of the game will be provided on The Posh Academy X account (@theposhacademy).
