Posh U21s face The Bees at the Weston Homes Stadium.
Peterborough United U21s return to Premier League Cup action on Monday afternoon (1pm) as they welcome Brentford B to the Weston Homes Stadium in the fifth game of the group phase.
The under 21s picked up an important three points in their previous fixture after beating Aston 4-1 at the Weston Homes Stadium, but remain five points behind the top two and will need to claim maximum points on Monday afternoon to have any chance of qualifying out of the group.
Brentford suffered their first defeat in the competition last time out following a 2-1 loss to Blackburn Rovers, but remain top of the group and ahead of Rovers by goal difference. Posh and The Bees met last month in a five-goal thriller at Lamex Stadium, with Joe Taylor netting twice in injury-time but still saw The Bees run out 3-2 winners.
Ryan Semple and Danny Walker, who will both remain in charge of the under 21s group for the fixture, will be able to welcome back defender Mackenzie Lamb, while a number of under 18s players could be involved in the matchday squad.
Speaking ahead of the match, Semple said: “We played them recently and have watched them, so we know they will be powerful, organised and will pose us problems, but we feel we can do exactly the same to them. We just want a good performance, build on some positive displays in recent weeks, continue to play the right way and, hopefully, if that all happens, then we can pick up a win to help us reach our goal of qualifying out of the group.
Tickets are now on sale at www.theposhtickets.com and via the Weston Homes Stadium Box Office. Admission is free for season ticket holders with adult tickets available for £3 and concessions (seniors and under 18s) at £1. The Main North Stand will be open for the fixture.
The game will be streamed live on Posh+, which will be free for Posh+ subscribers or £3 for a match pass.
