Posh Women to introduce an Under 16 team within the Girl’s Academy for the 2024/25 season.

Peterborough United Women are delighted to announce an expansion of their girl’s set-up from next season, with the introduction of an Under 16s team.

During the 2023/24 season, we rebranded the Girl’s Academy with the implementation of an Under 8s team alongside the Emerging Talent Centre (ETC) from Under 9s to Under 16s and the Under 23s formerly known as the Development Squad.

The new Peterborough United Women Under 16s team will participate in the Boy’s Junior Premier League, whilst also entering the Girls’ Warrior Cup.

Chloe Brown, Girl’s Academy Manager, spoke about the expansion of the Academy: “I am really excited to see the Under 16s going into a competitive league. It feels like the right time to challenge our players in this way. Although many have played mixed football for a long time, this will be a very different challenge for them. I want to thank the JPL and Tessa Payne (FA) for their support in getting us into this stage.”

John Webb has been appointed the Girl’s Under 16s Manager, he said: “It’s a privilege to become the manager of the first girl’s academy team to be joining the boy’s JPL league. The league represents an incredible opportunity to lead a team into what will be a very challenging environment. The girl’s will be pushed hard to complete with the speed, strength and technical prowess of the boys; which will only make them stronger players.

“Our ambitions are to develop the girls’ technical talents, whilst giving them the opportunity to tactically play as a team, week in week out. Joining the JPL league will not only elevate the clubs profile but also challenge the team to consistently perform at our best against top competition.”
