Lawrence signs for Posh Women.
Peterborough United Women have bolstered their options for the rest of the 2022/23 campaign with the signing of former Leicester City Women midfielder Rachel Lawrence.
Lawrence started her career at Leicester City Women, rising through the set-up alongside Tara Kirk, Zaiga Lacite and Evie Driscoll-King, and made her senior debut for The Foxes in 2019 against Manchester United in the Continental Cup.
Described as an energetic and hard-working player, usually utilised as a midfielder and at full-back, Lawrence has spent the last year playing for her university team but is eager to get started at Posh.
“I’m looking forward to the new challenge,” said Lawrence, “I have heard great things about the club and just can’t wait to get started now. I have kept an eye on the team’s performance so far this season, and they have had some good results, and it seems like a great team to fit my skillset, which will make it easier to fit in.
“It’s nice to join a club where you know a few players and allows me to get straight into the group. Although I haven’t played competitively in over a year, featuring for my university team though, but I’m back enjoying my football once again and looking forward to starting my journey with Posh.”
Manager Dan Lawlor added: “We are really happy to have signed Rachel. She has been to a couple of training sessions now and is a real positive signing for us, a player that will cause defenders plenty of problems. She has a great delivery on her and is quite pacy, so it’s a really good addition for us at an important stage of the season."
