Posh Women Development Squad faces The Foxes in league action on Sunday afternoon.
Peterborough United Women Development Squad continues a flurry of consecutive home games on Sunday afternoon (kick-off 2pm) as they take on Leicester City Ladies FC in the East Midland’s Women’s Regional Football League Division One South.
The Development Squad recorded an impressive 2-0 victory over Kettering Town Women last weekend, and has seen them overtake this weekend’s opponents. Leicester City Ladies have accumulated 13 points – three fewer than Posh – but have two games in hand. The two sides met in the league last December when a depleted Posh side lost 7-0.
Posh will be looking to build momentum from last weekend’s performance and improve on their previous display against Leicester. Several players are unavailable for this fixture including Danni Cooper-King, Alicia Podd, Sophie Goodwin and Jaz Gussin.
The Foxes will be looking to improve on their performances having lost their previous game 3-0 against Dunton and Broughton. They will be hoping Hollie Handisides will continue her goal threat in front of goal, having scored 11 goals in 11 appearances.
Manager Shaun Harley said before the game: “It was a tough game in the reverse fixture earlier this season. Leicester are a good team. We lost quite heavily to them last time out – we’re not taking anything away from them. Obviously, we had a depleted team that day but the set of young girls Leicester have are talented and aggressive and deserved the win.
“We go into this game on a high having played arguably our best performance of the season last week. Unfortunately, we are missing a few players who played well in that game. It’s a blow but we have a good squad now and I’m sure we will fight for the three points on Sunday."
