Posh Women Development Squad set for their final away game of the season on Sunday afternoon.
Peterborough United Women Development Squad travel to Castle Playing Fields on Sunday afternoon (2:30pm) where they face Thrapston Town Ladies in their final away game of the East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League Division One South campaign.
It will be the third time the two teams have met competitively this season, with Posh winning the reverse fixture 3-1 back in October and Thrapston Town winning 2-1 in the League Plate earlier this month.
Posh go into the clash in good spirits having won a recent friendly 7-0 against Lincoln United whereas Thrapston Town will be looking to return to winnings ways having bowed out of the Northants County Cup recently after a 7-0 lost to Northampton Town Women’s First Team.
Shaun Harley will have several players from the ETC involved for this weekend’s fixture, including goalkeeper Megan Dellar who will deputise between the sticks as well as Ellie Curson and Taya Smith. There will however be numerous key players unavailable for Sunday’s trip including Phoebe Richards-Reeves (calf injury), Danni Cooper-King (appendicitis), Alicia Podd (broken elbow) and Kacey Sharman (suspended).
Speaking ahead of the game, assistant manager Gareth Booth said, “We’re obviously familiar with Thrapston’s playing style now, so the girls know what to expect from them. It’ll be a good, physical game. They are a team similar to us who like to get the ball down and play well. We’ve got a few more players from the ETC signed with us who will be making their competitive debuts with us at the weekend. Megan Dellar played in goal in our recent friendly and performed well. It’s great to see the girls progressing through to us as it provides healthy competition for places and can only help us end the season positively."
