Posh Women Development Squad begin their 2022/23 campaign on Sunday afternoon.
Peterborough United Women Development Squad kick-off their 2022/23 East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League Division One South campaign with a trip to Moulton School and Science College to face local rivals Northampton Town Women Development Squad on Sunday afternoon (2pm).
Shaun Harley’s side concluded pre-season with a 4-1 defeat to Skegness Town Ladies, but the new-look Development Squad will be hoping for a successful campaign in their second season in the East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League.
Team News:
The Development Squad will be without defender Maddison Moore and goalkeeper Katie Cooper, who both sustained injuries in their final game of the pre-season schedule.
A handful of players are expected to make their competitive debuts for the team, including Eleanor Scotland, who finished as the Development Squad’s top scorer in pre-season. Harley has also strengthened his squad in the last week, with the arrival of Emmi Russell from Northampton Town Women and will be involved this weekend against her former team.
From The Gaffer:
“Obviously, we are still a relatively new side, but I am excited by the prospect of the new season and we are all looking forward to getting started. The squad is almost at full strength, so there’s lots of competition, which is really good to have as a team.”
“It’s going to be very tough given it’s the season opener and a derby away at Northampton Town. They will provide a strong test and are a well-established side who gained promotion last season. However, it’s a derby and anything can happen, so we just need to make sure we play to the best of our ability.”
