Peterborough United Women concluded their pre-season schedule with a 2-1 defeat to FAWNL Northern Division side Huddersfield Town Women at The Stafflex Arena, despite Kirk goal.
Both sides started the afternoon positively with both keepers in action. The first chance was carved out by Middleton who intercepted the Terriers on the edge of the box to find Wilshaw; her first effort was well-saved and the rebound found the side netting.
Posh looked to build momentum with some inviting efforts on target from Middleton and Kirk before another long range strike from Wilshaw found the hands of the keeper.
Each team continued to perform well in the afternoon heat but despite a few opportunities, the first half was devoid of many clear-cut chances.
Huddersfield broke the deadlock on 38 minutes after a shot was fired past Corry from inside the box.
After the break the hosts netted a second on 47 minutes with a menacing cross that found a player at the back post who slotted the ball in.
Posh responded with a goal on 51 minutes thanks to Dawbarn finding KIRK inside the box who turned well to tap home.
Poole made several changes before Huddersfield tested Corry once again with a challenging one-v-one that ended in their strike going wide.
Reynolds fashioned a final effort for Posh after she weaved through the middle unchallenged, Bale received the ball on the edge of the box but her shot flew over the bar.
Posh Women will travel to Worcester City on Sunday afternoon (2pm kick-off) where Poole’s side will begin their FA Women's National League Division One Midlands 2024/25 campaign.
