Posh Women U23s to face The Glassgirls’ Reserves.
Peterborough United Women U23s will continue their FA Women’s National League Reserves Midland Division campaign on Sunday afternoon (2pm) as they face Stourbridge Women Reserves at Hingsley Playing Fields.
Posh go into the fixture having picked up their first win of the season last weekend after a 4-0 victory against Notts County Women Reserves, with Ella-Mai Bale and Frankie Pim both netting a brace.
Opponents Stourbridge Women Reserves currently sit third in the table, having won two of their opening three games this season, including a 4-1 win over Notts County Reserves and a 1-0 victory over Sporting Khalsa Reserves.
Team News
Michael Allsebrook will be travelling with a strong squad on Sunday, but noted that a few players are nursing niggles. Forward Frankie Pim will be looking to continue her fine form at the start of the season, having netted seven goals in just four games.
The Glassgirls’ have spread the goals out so far this season, but Ellie Williams is currently their top scorer with three goals in five appearances.
From The Gaffer
“It’s important we build on the momentum from last weekend’s victory. We asked the players to be more resilient and together as a team, and they did that and relished the rewards. They played outstandingly but need to replicate that performance in the games to come.
“Sunday provides another tough test, but one the players will be looking forward to. It’s another long away trip against a side with not too much experience in this league. We know the surface is going to be challenging and Stourbridge play more direct, so we’re looking for our defence to get the first head on the crosses they bring into the box.”
