Posh Women U23s set to face Notts County Women Reserves.
Peterborough United Women U23s face Notts County Women Reserves at Clifton Football Club on Sunday afternoon (2pm) in the FA Women’s National League Reserves Midlands Division.
Posh Women U23s are still searching for their first victory of the season as they enter this game with one point from their opening two games - drawing 2-2 with Wolves Women in the season opener before succumbing to a 6-4 defeat last weekend against league leaders Lincoln City Development.
Opponents Notts County Reserves sit bottom of the table, having lost their opening two games, including a heavy 7-0 defeat to Derby County Development.
The squad will include plenty of attacking options for manager Michael Allsebrook, including top goalscorer Frankie Pim, however, there are several unavailabilities. U23s Coach, John Price, admits the squad need to relish their football and have the mentality to win.
Price said: “We believe it’s a good opportunity for us to get back to doing what we do best. It’s about the players playing positively and enjoying their football. Sunday was a tough result for us, so it’s all about us reacting to that performance, playing well as a team and learning from those mistakes.
“This fixture allows us to start making amends. We sat down with the players and looked at what went wrong against Lincoln during the week and discussed how to play better as a team and how to build up from the back. We know we have the technical ability in the group to be able to win against any side in the league, it’s just about the players having that mentality to manage the games effectively and not let what happened on Sunday happen again."
