Posh Women U23s to face The Poppies in their latest pre-season friendly.
Peterborough United Women’s U23s continue their pre-season programme as they face Kettering Town Women at Kettering Buccleuch Academy on Sunday afternoon (1pm KO).
The under 23s kicked-off their pre-season last month, and since have had two games, including a 2-0 win against Histon FC in their first game. Manager Michael Allsebrook confirmed that he will have a smaller squad at his disposal, but is hoping to build on performances from their early start in pre-season.
Allsebrook said: “We’ll see where we measure compared to what we did last year, so there’s a chance for us to see just how far we have come, and it should be a good game. We are tight on numbers, but we feel like we are going there again with a strong squad and we’ll go into the game wanting to do the best we can and to try and get a good performance and try to build on the things we have been working on.”.
Kettering Town Women and the under 23s met on two occasions last season in the East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League, most recently, Posh youngsters secured a 2-0 win over The Poppies after goals from Alicia Podd and Kendal O’Connor.
