Posh Women U23s set to conclude their pre-season schedule on Sunday afternoon.
Peterborough United Women U23s are set to conclude their pre-season schedule with a trip to Willen Road on Sunday afternoon (2pm) to face Newport Pagnell in their last pre-season friendly.
The under 23s have completed five pre-season fixtures so far, picking up an impressive victory over Watford Development Squad in their previous outing ahead of their debut in the FA Women’s National League Reserve Midlands division.
U23s Manager Michael Allsebrook said: “Watford was a really good measure for us in terms of who we will face over the course of the season. However, we know from Histon earlier in pre-season what these teams are and Newport Pagnell will provide another really good test for us. We’re looking forward to travelling there and seeing how we can play.”.
Newport Pagnell currently play in the Thames Valley Women’s League. They have signed plenty of young talents like midfielder, Nicole Clinch, who is making her first step up into senior women’s football and Ella Badham, who has just returned from two years playing college football in the USA.
With it being the last game of pre-season, a more serious tone sets in as Allsebrook wants to end the schedule on a positive note ahead of the season-opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers Development next Sunday.
Allsebrook said: “We always want to get a performance and we always want to get a result. So for us, we will be trying to get two good outcomes this weekend in terms of a result and performance, but they’re both equally important at this stage in pre-season.”
