Katie Middleton and Frankie Pim bag two late goals to secure another three points for Posh Women to maintain their winning streak.

Peterborough United Women came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over Barnsley at the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park on Sunday afternoon, leaving Jake Poole’s side with a 100% start to the campaign in league and cup.

The Reds performed strongly throughout the first half and opened the scoring on three minutes as Jodie MICHAELSKA slotted past Corry from close-range.

Niamh Connor established the first clear chance for Posh on 30 minutes after an impressive run down the left, she found Kirk in the box who turned well to place the ball for Reynolds, but her effort was saved by Serena Clarke.

After Perkins narrowly missed an chance from Driscoll-King’s cross, Middleton tried her luck from the edge of the box just before the half-time whistle, but her effort was blocked again by Clarke.

With Posh behind at the break, it was a scrappy start to the second half with Kirk sending Lawlor’s free-kick over the bar and despite Reynolds looking dangerous in front of goal, Barnsley made it challenging to find the target.

On 60 minutes, Posh showcased a great passage of play that ended in Kirk firing towards the net, but Clarke kept her effort out.

Poole made his first change on 61 minutes with Poppie Brown introduced after missing the start of the season due to suspension, replacing Lauren Wilshaw. Shortly after, Renai Bennett and Edyn Osker replaced Meg Lawlor and Niamh Connor.

Alex O’Neill and Frankie Pim replaced Emily Sharpe and Tara Kirk before MIDDLETON headed home from Driscoll-King’s cross into the box on 80 minutes to equalise.

Posh bagged a last minute winner in the last minute thanks to some excellent work from Middleton once again in front of goal, her strike from just outside the box was parried away by Clarke, leaving super-sub Frankie PIM to fire home from close-range.
