A look ahead to Tuesday evening’s Emirates FA Cup first round replay at the Peninsula Stadium (7.45pm).
Peterborough United travel to the Peninsula Stadium to face Sky Bet League Two side Salford City in the Emirates FA Cup first round replay with Darren Ferguson’s men looking to set-up a tie against either Doncaster Rovers or Accrington Stanley in the second round.
The first meeting between the two sides ended 2-2 with Emmanuel Fernandez heading home a late leveller after two individual errors allowed the visitors to the Weston Homes Stadium to get their noses in front. Posh go into the game on the back of a comprehensive 5-0 win over Cambridge United, while Salford were beaten 2-1 by Mansfield Town.
TEAM NEWS
Posh will have to shuffle their pack for this tie with Jadel Katongo, Ronnie Edwards and Hector Kyprianou away on international duty and defender Peter Kioso on the side-lines due to injury. Charlie O’Connell is cup-tied, while Will Blackmore and Jeando Fuchs are also unavailable although the latter is back training on grass.
Striker Malik Mothersille won’t feature after playing 90 minutes for the under 21s against Tottenham Hotspur under 21s on Sunday. Posh can name nine substitutes for this tie so several youngsters including James Dornelly could feature.
Salford defender Liam Shepherd was substituted after 45 minutes against the Stags and is rated as doubtful for the clash against his former club. Adrian Mariappa missed that clash with injury and is unlikely to be fit in time.
ONE TO WATCH
Matt Smith (pictured below) remains the main threat from the Ammies, although the powerful front man was kept relatively quiet in the first clash between the two sides. The former Leeds United and Millwall man scored again at the weekend though and remains the club’s top goal-scorer.
FROM THE MANAGER
“Salford have some good players, obviously in the first game between the two sides we made some errors, but the performance as a whole wasn’t that bad, we just need to make sure that we go there and put in a consistent performance, because we want to progress in this competition. We just need to get through the tie with a positive outcome,” Darren Ferguson said.

Posh have sold 189 tickets for the clash at the Peninsula Stadium. Tickets are on sale until 12pm at the Weston Homes Stadium Box Office and online at www.theposhtickets.com. Fans can pay at Salford at turnstile A2, but it is card payments only.

HEAD TO HEAD
Posh ran out 3-0 winners at Salford in an FA Cup replay last season with Jack Marriott bagging a brace. Ephron Mason-Clark netted the other goal on that night.
A FOOT IN BOTH CAMPS
Liam Shepherd featured against his former club in the first tie while there have been numerous players down the years that have played for both clubs including George Boyd (pictured below), Carl Piergianni and Danny Lloyd, while manager Neil Wood once scored a free-kick from distance for Posh during a loan spell from Manchester United.
